Woke up and stayed in bed for an hour, finishing reading T. Kingfisher’s new book, _A House with Good Bones_, which I enjoyed, as I enjoy all of her books. This one was particularly fun for me as it had a strong gardening component, specifically roses.
Then ran Kevin to the train, because he has a conference on campus all day today, and swung by Home Depot for more pansies and violas — once it warms up, I’ll plant up my front porch hanging baskets and planters. Which also means I need to get at least that hose set up this weekend, so they have a chance of not dying from lack of watering…
Plan for the rest of the day:
– watch the new episode of _Beyond Paradise_ while posting a garden log (I do actually have to pause shows if I’m typing — that’s one thing I can’t multitask, alas) and cleaning up the kitchen
– deal with at least 10 backlogged e-mails
– if energy allows, make something for breakfast for the kids — Kavi has a friend sleeping over, which might be enough to motivate me to to do pancakes or some such; if motivation doesn’t materialize, they can scrounge.
– post to the new Patreon tier (make tier first) with the story for April — if you want to find out what happened to my poor student, the ending of her story will be there.
– start story for May; my tentative plan is to try to write the Patreon story in the first two weeks of the month, so I don’t get stressed and feel like I have to finish it at the last minute
– once it warms up, plant the pansies and violas
– change out the burned out light bulbs on the porch
– try hanging a curtain on the porch to screen lounger from apartment building right next door
That’s all I feel strongly about doing today. Jed’s visiting, so hopefully somewhere in there, we’ll take a few hours to play a board game. There’s a longer list for the weekend as a whole, but it’s going to make me tired to write them out, so let’s just stop there, eh?
