I think this is the semi-dwarf ironweed I planted last year, “Iron Butterfly”. Native ironweed gets 4-6′ tall, but this variety is supposed to stay to 2-3′ tall, which makes it work better in my sunny parkway border. I’m really liking how it looks against the Russian sage.
