I planted a lot of heirloom tomatoes this year, all grown from seed, and I didn’t have that many tomato cages (or that much available sun). I read about a method where you use stakes and tomato twine, cutting off the extra vines and growing the tomatoes sort of in a straight line. I admit, I had a hard time cutting off perfectly healthy vines, and I don’t think I’ve done as many as I should. But it’s promising nonetheless. Maybe I’ll go back in with the clippers today, do another round of pruning.
