Columbine time — if you yearn for an English cottage garden, this is a great way to have that floriferous look for a few weeks.
Columbines are wonderful for generosity — they tend to spread over time here, so at the end of their flowering, when the flowers have dried, you can shake out seeds to share with friends and neighbors (shake some out for yourself too, so you’ll have them return next year). Some people may even have enough columbines that they’ll let you dig some out this year.
Our native columbines are orange and yellow, so native gardeners can have some too!
