Wacky Orchid
Heh — a couple of irises stacked sort of looks like a wacky orchid.
Okay, this was fun — I happened to be at the far end of the sidewalk when I noticed a neighbor pausing to look at the flowers. A few minutes later, she bent down to sniff a peony. Makes me happy. Garden your parkways, people — it can bring a lot of joy!
Iris and peonies and fading white bleeding heart in the parkway. The black car makes a pretty good backdrop for the peonies. Thanks, neighbor!
Okay, I dunno, I didn’t like this iris when it first bloomed this year, but now it’s totally grown on me. It seemed very maroon when it first bloomed, which isn’t my favorite color (sorry, U Chicago), but at this point, it clearly has lots of purples and pinks and a little orange too, which

This iris! Sometimes I just can’t get over how pretty they are. Possibly this is “Sky Spirit.”
A little bit of the backyard bed that I’m just started last year. It has a long way to go — much of it is just mulch and weeds — but this bit is nice. Climbing English rose “Crown Princess Margareta”, alliums, centaurea, malva zebrina.
