Just planted this new hardy hibiscus, giant blooms. Fingers crossed it takes well. Not sure if it’s really supposed to be blooming now — maybe yes? Maybe earlier? My neighbors have some big ones that were blooming weeks ago.

The cardinal flowers are finishing up, but I’ve really enjoyed how long-blooming they are — I think four solid weeks of color, which is pretty impressive. I put in one plant last year (pictured), just added another a little further down the bed. (With a rather spare begonia basket behind).

Native purple prairie phlox (wine-cups) decided to throw out another bloom, just for fun. I think this is probably my favorite native — that saturated color!
I love how papery-transparent the blossoms are.
