John Cabot rose — this is a hardy Canadian rose, and even though it does reach for the sun, most of its blooms are under the shade of the redbud tree. Despite the limited sun, this is the first rose to bloom in my garden, and generally blooms profusely. Very thorny — recommend elbow-length leather

Peonies are generous enough that I can leave some in the garden for the neighbors to enjoy, collect some for drying for art, have some for distributing in vases, and could even collect some petals for making peony jelly — which may or may not happen this week. But it could. 🙂 We’ll see if
