Cold and tired — but most of what I have to do today is computer work, so I’ve tucked myself into bed with my laptop and phone, which should help with the cold and tired.

So far today, got the kids off to school, did an hour of training with Liz (the wrist is definitely recovering, as evidenced by actually being able to lift weights now if I’m very slow and careful), ate breakfast, called bank to try to straighten out some SLF finances (waiting on callback now).

Then spent half an hour working on the Alec Pollak Joanna Russ event I’m organizing at UIC for next week — I’d really wanted to get all that finalized by LAST week, but this is one of the things that was just too much for me between World Fantasy travel and being sick for a bit. SIGH.

If you’re in Chicago and interested in Joanna Russ, I’m hosting a panel Thursday 11/7 at UIC, 3:30 – 4:30, and also probably a bookstore reading that evening, would LOVE to see you there. Details coming soon — just need to lock down room reservations and the panel description. With editor Alec Pollak and biographer Alec Nevala-Lee. Two Alecs on the same panel! Wacky.

All of this is urgent (and late), but I also need to grade papers and journals and passage presentations, and I promised them that I’d do my best to get them back tomorrow, so that’s the rest of my afternoon. Interspersed (mostly when my wrist starts protesting the computer too much, which it’s starting to now) with a bit of resin work and so much laundry.

Also trying to finish editing and posting pictures; it’s stressing me out that I have so many on my phone. Usually I clear them pretty fast, editing and posting and archiving them. I have some from the summer that I never posted! Sigh. Well, just chug along and eventually progress will be made, right? RIGHT?
I think I deserve a slice of pumpkin pie for being so virtuous. I think that’s actually next. And then perhaps some Cave of the Winds photos, as I wait for people to get back to me. This is after they give us our ponchos (flimsier than the ones from Maid of the Mist — mine tore almost immediately when I tried to put my phone in my pocket).
