The best part of the tea party for me, totally unanticipated, was that various friends of mine showed up, and I hadn’t known they were coming, because I hadn’t looked at the RSVP list. Isn’t that lovely? Raquel is in my writing group but also knows Lori, it turns out, and Madhurima and Wailin came too, and various other friends not pictured whom I hadn’t seen in a long while (stupid pandemic) came.

It was so nice to catch up a tiny bit with them, although since I was in host-mode, I did keep running away to do host-things. Next time we’ll just sit down and talk for an hour or three.

Of course, the actual best part of the tea party may have been Lori Rader-Day‘s shoes. Are they not the most fabulous? They absolutely are.
