Los Angeles folks, help me plan next week? I’m taking Kavi out to look at some colleges, but I’m hoping we can do some fun stuff too — Kavi’s never been to LA., and I’ve only been to go to SF conventions or visit friends; I don’t know the city at all.
What should I do with a 17-year-old? I’d consider taking her clubbing, but I think she’s not old enough. Beaches? Boardwalk? Shopping we can’t afford? Hollywood? (She watches a LOT of TV.) Cool teen thing? Interesting / unusual restaurants? I think we have one free afternoon and one free evening.
Current plan:
- Monday 7/29 – fly into LAX around dinner time, rental car to hotel in Ontario, CA — could stop somewhere fun for dinner in LA before going to hotel? Probably nothing else; I imagine we’ll be tired from travel day.
- Tuesday 7/30 – Scripps Tour (9 – 11 a.m.), Chapman tour (2 – 4 p.m.) (free the rest of the day — this is the main evening we have for doing fun things)
- Wednesday 7/31 – Occidental tour (10 – 11:30) (check out of hotel, free in the afternoon, probably dinner with Lisette)
- (somewhere in here, possibly check out Loyola Marymount, though they didn’t have a tour available.)
- Thursday 8/1 – return rental car at LAX, take shuttle to Amtrak, take Coast Starlight train to the Bay Area (fun!)
