Woke up and managed to caffeinate sufficiently to run the morning’s iGov board meeting (8:30 on a Saturday, oof!) — I’m pleased to note that we’re planning various Zoom meetings to help get citizens ready for the next local election — petitions will be available in mid-August! The local election is a month earlier than typical, in March 2025! I’ll post the details when I have them. Soon! YAY LOCAL GOVERNMENT!!! (I’m using lots of exclamation points and caps because I need the energy boost this early in the morning…)
Kavi’s home from her friend’s lake house vacation in Michigan, the kids’ school starts this coming week (I have two more weeks, thank all the little gods), so I’m planning to spend the weekend mostly hanging with them as they permit (TV for Kavi, board games / Magic:TG for Anand, hopefully cooking with both of them), and crafting — I’m in production mode for Garage Galleries Forest Park 2024, hope to see lots of locals there! Also some garden pruning and maybe seed starting…
Also today, belated birthday lunch with Lori Rader-Day, yay, and Kevin and I actually have a DATE planned (I think this is the first we’ve managed in at least a year) — we’ve got tickets to Oak Park’s new comedy club, and will be seeing Vikram Balaji — I didn’t even know it was going to be a South Asian comic when I went to get tickets, but I’m excited. (Prateek Srivastava, a mutual friend, it looks like?) Possibly dinner beforehand at Khyber Pass, if we’re feeling very ambitious.
