Before the semester starts next week

Please forgive all the to-do lists; somehow, I find it motivating and it’s helping me get through the set of things I need to do before the semester starts next week…

(Pic — IKEA Kallax unit I assembled yesterday (only dropped it on my fingers once), because I was frustrated with what the shop had for a window display of the various vendors’ items — I think this is better.

I’d like to have little signs in each square, highlighting the names of the shops / vendors, making it clearer that this storefront hosts lots of little shops. We’ll get there.

While I was working on refreshing my store, the other vendors working filled this with items from the shops — they went for lots of pink, because apparently it’s time to shop for Valentine’s Day already…eep.)

PLAN FOR TODAY:

  • call dealer about tire service for car; call AAA re: towing (DONE)
  • bake cranberry scones (for me and Kev) and pumpkin chocolate-chip scones (for the kids) (DONE — I use the Sticky Fingers scone mix (just add water) and a mini scone pan with Baker’s Joy spray, makes it super-easy, and I stir in extra dried cranberries and sometimes chopped candied ginger for the cranberry scones and nice chocolate chips for the pumpkin scones)
  • 9-12 — work with Eliana on getting stock in online shop (DONE)
  • clean kitchen (DONE)
  • finish cleaning up and organizing main room in basement studio (DONE)
  • put away laundry (DONE)
  • make a nice chicken curry for dinner and eat some (DONE)
  • exercise (DONE)
  • work on syllabus prep (IN PROGRESS)

***

  • review SLF Slack messages and catch up on tasks
  • set up and post about Veganuary book promo
  • look at schedule and if it works, schedule pressed flower demo at shop (probably end of January)
  • look at schedule and schedule Tornado / Perennial party at shop — in February, my nine-year anniversary of the original cancer diagnosis is coming up, seems like a good time to celebrate the books coming out
  • clear at least 50 e-mail messages (have been letting it pile up, sigh)
  • work on Russ essay
  • figure out what other medical appointments everyone in the family needs in the next month, and schedule, sigh
