Made it to Connecticut

Made it to CT, a little tired, but managing. Was met at the airport by my dad and a young Sri Lankan friend (who was lucky enough to win the green card lottery) recently arrived in the U.S. He’s staying with my dad for a bit, with his wife.

My dad clearly enjoys having the young people around. They’re both in aeronautical engineering and looking for work; I’m guessing I don’t have any contacts in that area, but just in case, putting it out there — I think they’re willing to relocate almost anywhere in the U.S.

Spent about two hours on finance stuff, then took a break to eat dinner (lovely rice and curry provided by another Sri Lankan friend of my dad’s), and then watched an episode of Jeopardy with them.

Fun, but I would totally fail if I were on the show, because while I know a respectable number of the answers in many categories, some categories are complete mysteries to me, and even if I know them, I am not quick at pulling them up. My memory is ponderous and slow.

I have some more work to do tonight, for school board and UIC, so back to it now, alas.
