Some pics from the OPALGA+ potluck. So lovely to have a full house — I miss hosting! Maybe it’s time for the potluck / board games to come back. I need to put together a new post-COVID invite list for that, I think.
It was particularly nice sitting out on the porch, which I’ve been working on making lovely and comfortable. For this party, I’d managed to change out all the burned out bulbs, got all the candles lit, and the weather was perfect, with blankets for those who tended to be chilly. A dream. I feel so lucky to get to live in this house.
OPALGA+ is a great, welcoming group, though it does skew older, and we’d like to have more younger members. (And by younger, we mean under 50. ) Maybe some more POC too?
I keep thinking that it’d be such fun to run a queer open mic in Oak Park, and I just have to keep sternly telling myself that I don’t have time to organize such a thing right now. Maybe in two years, when my school board term is done. It’d be a great feeder for OPALGA+, and also just a lot of fun to do.
Although that said, if anyone reading this is interested in co-hosting such a thing…
