I learned something on the Fine Gardening podcast yesterday, which I just confirmed online — unlike most cut flowers, tulips keep growing in the vase, sometimes up to 6 inches or more! Wacky. Somehow that makes me a little more motivated to change out their water and give them a fresh cut periodically. 
Species tulip sylvestris; a little smaller than the classic hybrid tulips, more likely to survive and return in our landscape, theoretically. My first year with them, so we’ll see what happens…
