I thought I’d finished a draft of a Liminal Space pilot earlier this week, but we just had a class reviewing it and I think the 45-minute stopping point (see picture below) is not actually a good stopping point…
…so I went and grabbed another whole section (which ends with an EXPLOSION, much better) and added it on, so now I have to go convert all of that into screenplay format before we meet again in two weeks, but that’s fine…
…except I think it means that this pilot is actually going to be 90 minutes or so, which I was a little worried about for a second, especially since that’s a third of the way through the story…
…but then I remembered that I like watching British murder mysteries, and they’re perfectly willing to do a mini-series with three 90-minute episodes and nobody blinks an eye, so it’s fine, it’s fine. I do not have to shape this story for American network TV.
I’ve been slammed by deadlines and e-mail and travel and sickness and caretaking for the last few months (writing during the semester is always hard, but this semester felt PARTICULARLY hard), so mostly, I’m just glad to finally be thinking about writing again.
Hoping to do a lot more writing soon.
