Fall semester grades are in (except for two students who didn’t hand in final papers, whom I’m still hoping to get something from if they ever answer my e-mail…).
Did I grade somewhat more generously that I would in a normal semester? YES.
Am I going to regret that? NOT EVEN A TINY BIT.
Is it ridiculous to try to maintain regular grading protocols in the midst of a national disaster? YES, YES, A THOUSAND TIMES YES.
(I say national rather than worldwide, because some countries have actually gotten this pandemic under control and gone back to educational normal, but not America, tragically.)
Am I super-proud of all my munchkins who tried their hardest to actually complete coursework despite grief and anxiety and uncertainty and massive disruption to all the routines that normally support student learning? YES. SUPER-PROUD.
