Delighted to note that I’ll be introducing AMITAV GHOSH next week, one of my very favorite contemporary writers (in my top ten!):
Tue., Oct. 18 at 6 p.m.
Harold Washington Library Center, Cindy Pritzker Auditorium
400 S. State Street, Chicago
Amitav Ghosh discusses his new book The Great Derangement: Climate Change and the Unthinkable. Are we deranged? Ghosh argues that future generations may well think so. How else to explain our imaginative failure in the face of global warming? In his first major book of nonfiction since In An Antique Land, Ghosh examines our inability—at the level of literature, history and politics—to grasp the scale and violence of climate change.
This event is free and open to the public; seating in the auditorium is first-come, first-served.
