"A social justice worker and poet, Sharmili Majmudar�s writing can be found in journals and anthologies including the award-winning Contours of the Heart: South Asians Map North America. She was a founding member of Mango Tribe, a multi-city Asian/Pacific Islander American (APIA) women and genderqueer interdisciplinary performance ensemble and has performed at numerous venues across North America, including South Asian Progressive Action Coalition�s Voices of Resistance. She is a recipient of Community Renewal Society's 2009 35 under 35 Leadership Award, Chicago Foundation for Women's 2010 Impact Award and the Loyola University of Chicago School of Social Work�s 2011 Siedenburg Award. Sharmili earned a Bachelor of Arts in English and Psychology from The George Washington University in Washington, D.C. and a Master of Social Work from Loyola University of Chicago's Graduate School of Social Work. By day, she is the director of a rape crisis center; by night, she is building a life with her sajni and their very determined toddler. By twilight, it�s anybody�s guess."
