A photo from the last week — at lunch at Rajan Uncle’s house after my mother’s funeral, with my father (using a wheelchair currently, after his stroke last November) and some of his and my mother’s dearest friends. Many of their friendships have lasted over 50 years.
Saroja Aunty (Saroja Koneswaran), standing right behind my father, knew my mother when she was pregnant with me, and soon after, was pregnant with her own first child, Suresh, who has been a friend of mine for almost that long. His younger brother, Haran, played and sang beautifully at the wake. I’m sorry I didn’t get video, as it was truly lovely, and very much appreciated.

I haven’t had time to review all the very kind well-wishes; the last several days were heavily scheduled. My sister Mirna took on the bulk of the organizing for the wake and funeral, but there was so much work to do that even with my mother’s siblings’ massive help, we were all pretty much booked straight through the last few days.
I flew back last night, and am going straight into teaching the first day of fall semester today, so am unlikely to be able to even look at your kind words for a day or two (there have been more than a thousand condolences on the various related posts over the last few days). But the well wishes are very much appreciated.
Okay, off to go print out my class rosters and the first day’s materials, and then heading into campus. More soon.
