I don’t have a picture or video of it, because I was up on stage, but I was honored to present the short story Nebula tonight.
My speech was not terrible, I think, though my voice was a bit shaky for the first part, but mostly just because I was talking about how we ended up founding Strange Horizons.
I guess I feel strongly about that, and about how we need to work together (with joy and love) to build the structures that make possible the world and future we want.
I just love this genre so much.
I steadied down when I got to the definition of short story and quoting Poe about Hawthorne. Professor mode is easier than baring your heart on stage. ![]()
