One last pic from What’s Blooming on Harrison — we had a wine & cheese from 5-7 to close out the event, which was fun! It’s nice when people wander in to shop and are surprised by free wine and cheese. 
Wine donated by Lissa Dysart, the Tomato Lady, who was selling seedlings at our booth — thanks! I didn’t write down the name of the rosé in front, but if you happen to remember, let me know? Stephanie and I both thought it was delicious and surprising.
Pictured here is my newest acquisition — I bought one of Steph Bailey Photo‘s metal prints (top left), of the Dark Horse Nebula. I know it’s not a close-up, but trust me, it’s gorgeous! I’m going to keep it hanging in the shop, a) because it looks great up there, and b), because the metal print is really cool for space photos, and if people are interested in getting one of her prints on metal, I can connect them with Stephanie (also pictured) to order one. I think she’d do well with a booth at a SF convention art show!
The day overall was exhausting but great. A new addition was a jazz stage, which was right next door, and they brought in some really well-known jazz musicians — I got to hear amazing live jazz all day, which was very cool. (And only occasionally just a little too loud for talking to people in my store.) Great job Oak Park Arts District Business Association — and I think maybe the Oak Park Arts Council? I’m not quite sure who organized the jazz musicians, but they were SO GOOD.
I sold the dahlia table (woot!), which automatically made it a good day for me, and lots of smaller items, and lots of people stopped into the store — the main thing to work on this summer is getting the word out and getting people actually into the space. If you’re local, please do stop by and check us out — we’re a great option for gifting in particular. And bring your friends!
Someone also asked if we do private shopping events, where they could bring their girlfriends or book club for a hangout. I’m totally up for that, but have to figure out the logistics a little bit before I can tell people anything about pricing. (If anyone reading this does this kind of thing and can ballpark it or point me to a resource, that would be great). I’m thinking maybe I can put out some refreshments as part of it — I do love feeding people interesting things.
Okay, must run — we’re about to start the ‘how to critique’ session of the SLF writing workshop. I am tired today (lots of insomnia last night, which didn’t help, no idea why), but tea will power me through.
