A great time to for perennial exchange

Reminder — Oak Park Area Garden Club is hosting its monthly meet-up this Sunday, 5/24, 3-4 p.m.

This is a great time to for perennial exchange; if you’re dividing hostas, irises, other mature perennials that could use dividing, bring some to the meet-up, and take away something new!

And if you have a new garden and nothing to share, fear not — those of us with mature gardens that are stuffed full of plants are often very happy to have a good home for our divisions, rather than just tossing them on the compost.

I’ll be bringing in irsises and interesting hostas at least, possibly more. (There’ll be probably 2 of the irises in the photo, for example, and I think I’ll be dividing my bearded ruffled black irises too.)

I’ll also have seeds to share, and encourage you to bring some of your own. Garden tools in good condition are welcome as well. Any extras, I’ll try to donate to local school gardens.

If you know you’re bringing something, I encourage you to comment below (or on the event page) — that’ll make the post more visible, and the more who participate, the better the exchange will be!
