Time for a cute story. A week or so ago, a woman came in and bought a present for her husband, a wine bottle stopper; we had a nice little chat. A few days later, said husband came in, found a pair of earrings for her he liked, but asked if I had any in clip-on form. I didn’t, but I’ve been meaning to get some clip-ons, and I told him if he could come back a few days later, I could convert them for him. He said great!
And then he asked if I had any jewelry featuring yellow roses. I didn’t, alas — but I told him I’d be happy to look for some dried yellow roses, and if I found them, make him something. He said he’d love that — he and his wife had just celebrated their 50th anniversary, and yellow roses were their flower; he’d given her a yellow rose on their first date. (Is that not the sweetest?)
They both came in together yesterday, and I was able to give him the clip-on earrings and show him four different yellow rose pendants, and he called her over to pick one out, and she picked this one, and he bought it for her, along with the clip-on earrings. And it was all just lovely. 🙂
