Pleased to see my newest Wild Cards story

Some of you know I’m agent-hunting. I have been slow and disorganized about the process, had planned to amp it up this summer. But I actually just got a request for full manuscript, from a query I sent quite some time back (which had the first three chapters of the book).

All the agents I talk to are INSANELY backlogged on submissions (and I’m sure AI has made that much, much worse, flooding them with terrible books), and I’ve been trying to keep that in mind, but it’s hard to be patient. Patience is NOT my strong suit.

Anyway, this may not pan out, but it’s still encouraging. Maybe I’m not a completely terrible novelist after all.

On an only slightly related note, Sleeper Straddle arrived in the mail today, and I’m pleased to see my newest Wild Cards story in it. Set in Sri Lanka!

I even had an idea for an essay as I was falling asleep last night. Haven’t actually started writing it, but I think I know how it opens, and I think it might be good. We’ll see.
