Last bits of visiting Kavi — last night, took her and her roommate out to Pizza My Heart, a local favorite. Fine, but I think CA people may not know what really good pizza tastes like…
They make a great açaí bowl in her cafeteria, though. She took me there today and treated me to lunch (and plane snacks) — she has a required meal plan to use up. Then we had one last walk around her very pretty campus (so much sunshine and roses!), including the favored lawn for suntanning.
Kavi: We also tan near the pool, and sometimes I even swim! Aren’t you proud of me?
Me: Yes! Good job swimming!
Kavi: And you even tan faster underwater, because of reflections and [waves hands around] physics!
Me: I didn’t know that — I guess you do learn things in college.
Kavi: Yes! Like how to speed-run skin cancer!
I’m in the taxi and almost home now; going to miss that girl so much. Five weeks until she comes home for the summer. An eternity.
