Chionodoxa (glory-of-the-snow) and periwinkle. In retrospect, kind of wish I’d planted natives instead — but it’s hard, because the natives are more expensive and take longer to get established. Making a big carpet of spring ephemeral natives would take years.
But digging all these up if I do decide to switch is also going to be challenging — well, mostly the periwinkle. I think the chionodoxa bulbs would come out reasonable easily.
And the chionodoxa seems to be coexisting fine with my wild violets, actually — as the chionodoxa finishes, the wild violets have come up really well.
So it’s really just the periwinkle that’s a problem, I think. I’m not sure what native makes a good shade-tolerant mat that flowers for a bit….
