Y’all, the task list for getting the store launched has been absolutely endless, or at least it’s felt that way, and almost every day for the last few months has been just get up and move through the tasks required for both jobs, one after another after another, many of them incredibly tedious.
With a little break for the ICFA conference, which was desperately needed; I was ready to cry all the time just before that, because I was just that tired.
I’m behind on all the doctor and dentist etc. appointments — anything that could be ignored mostly has been. I did finally make a therapist appointment today. Go, me. That’s been on my to-do list for oh…a year and a half?
Main therapy goal — stop being such a workaholic and learn to rest some, before I burn out completely. Also stop being avoidant about writing. Also take control of my chaos of to-do lists and post-it notes.
Also, learn how to support my college student without suffocating her…Kevin will be coming along for that one.
But could that be — light? At the end of the tunnel? The sign finally went up today, and I think I have just five more tasks left for launch (yes, launch was almost two months ago):
- get a business credit card (in progress)
- paint some gold constellations on the ceiling (hopefully early next week, if not this weekend)
- get a squeegee and clean the windows (will happen by middle of next week)
- tell the Oak Park Arts District Business Association that we’re ready for them to take a promotional video of the space (about to send the e-mail scheduling it)
- figure out and install better lighting (that may take a little while, as I have to save up some money for the lighting and an electrician, but hopefully by mid-May)
And in two more weeks, I’l be done with teaching, and then I’m going to visit Kavi for a week, and then I have a summer of breathing and hopefully writing. (I don’t teach at UIC over the summer anymore.) I think it’s going to be nice.
