Little bits of the store from the last week:
• went to a Chamber networking event, held at Wonder Works; the last time I went to that children’s museum, my own children were much, much littler. Networking is kind of exhausting — little 10 minute conversations introducing myself over and over is not my favorite thing. But they had MagnaTiles to play with, so that helped. I think Magna-Tiles were the best value for money of all the non-electronic toys we bought our children over the years.
• I wore a blue dress to work on Friday, and I didn’t have any blue earrings that went with it, so when I got to the store, I made myself some. Three shades of blue resin, swirled together — I like the result. Should I make more in this style for sale?
• I wrote a quick sign to let people know that there was more to shop in the back (not entirely clear from the store layout), and then Brie Maldonado made it pretty for me. Thank you, Brie! Chalk signage is not my strength.
• The little snowdrop cookies were a hit. 
My sugar cookie recipe is from Sweetopia — reliable and recommended. I am lazy about flooding (I can do it, but I have unusually weak grip strength, so anything with piping makes my hands cramp up after not very long), so I just dipped these. We’ll call it homemade charm, shall we?
• Finished my first square for the yarn-bombing of the Arts District. To keep myself amused, I switched stitches as I went. Finished version has single / double / treble crochet, moss stitch, fan stitch, and waffle stitch. (Not quite sure I did the waffle right.)
Store is closed tomorrow and Tuesday, and then Laurette Stefani Anderson‘s people will be staffing it Wed / Thurs 1-7. And on Thursday, I head off to ICFA in Orlando, so I have Jen and Izzy and Kevin covering for me this weekend.
Going to be weird not being in there for five days — for most of the last few months, I’ve been stopping by almost every day to work on something or other. But oh, I am in DIRE need of a vacation, and ICFA is going to combine some pleasant work (much chatting with colleagues and beloved old friends) with a lot of time by the pool. Fingers crossed for sunshine next weekend. I want to swim and swim and swim.
