Day 3 of the Grand Opening Weekend. 
I messed up a bit with some of the activities for this weekend — I should’ve made separate FB events for each of them, I think, so people would see it and sign up and get reminded. Oops. Publicity is not my strong point.
We did have two people show up for the garden club meet-up, and the three of us had a lovely 90 minutes talking about plants and gardens and community and more. Such a pleasant start to a Sunday. We’ll be doing these every first Sunday of the month, so if you missed this month and are sad, mark your calendars for the next one, April 5, 9 – 11 a.m.
And hey, this one reminded me to check when I’m supposed to start dahlias indoors, and it’s basically now (4-8 weeks before last frost, which the almanac estimates at April 17).
So once I recover from the grand opening weekend, that’s the next garden thing I’ll be doing — checking on my plastic-wrapped refrigerated dahlia tubers to see what survived, planting them in small pots, ready to transplant into the garden (and maybe give away some) around Memorial Day. That sounds like a nice hour to spend tomorrow…

Here’s the rest of the schedule for today — and the free plants and seeds will be available all day if you stop by:
Sunday 3/1: (Store open 9 – 5)
9 – 11 a.m.: Monthly garden club meet-up and seed / cuttings / perennial exchange (all are welcome)
12 – 1 p.m.: Free flower preservation workshop — learn how to press, dehydrate, and use silica gel to preserve flowers
1 p.m.: Final raffle drawing
2 – 3 p.m.: Free UV resin / two-part epoxy resin talk — I’ll talk you through working with UV resin and two-part epoxy resin (this is NOT a hands-on workshop, but we’ll have lots of examples for you to look at)
4 – 5 p.m.: Poetry circle — bring a poem to share as we close out the weekend; it can be one you’ve written, or a favorite by someone else. Nature poems particularly encouraged.
