In progress. These are all pieces where I wasn’t happy with them on coming out of the mold — small imperfections or big ones. So they needed sanding and then a top coat of more resin. Alternately, I could’ve done many rounds of sanding, with finer and finer grit, but that is both tiring and BORING.
This is still tedious, and definitely not my favorite part of the resin process, but I’m trying to turn out a more professional final product these days, and that means being stricter with myself on imperfections.
Which doesn’t mean the flowers themselves have to be perfect — I like the natural look of some petals folded over, or pulling apart from the center, for example. But I dislike flaws in the resin coat itself.
Sanded last night (about an hour), then poured this morning (also about an hour). I’ll check them tomorrow morning, remove the bottom glue coat, and see how they look. Some will likely be fine; some may need additional work. Onwards.
