To Local Writers & Readers

Hey, Chicago (esp. Oak Park area) writers and readers! Three things I’d like to tell you about, happening at 301 Harrison, Oak Park:

a) if you have a book you’ve written that you’d like me to carry on consignment (70% to you, 30% to me) at my new studio / store, I’d love to see it. If you look carefully at the shelf in the photo, you’ll see local author Alec Nevala-Lee‘s _Inventor of the Future_ as an example; I’d love to have a few solid local author shelves. Comment here, if interested, or stop by!

b) starting tomorrow (Sunday 2/22), every fourth Sunday of the month, I’m planning hosting co-writing from 9-11 a.m. You show up, we chat for 5-10 minutes at the start of the hour, then we work quietly for about 50 minutes, then repeat. There will be tea. If interested, just come by — and if people want to meet more often (twice a month? weekly?) I’m probably up for that, assuming there’s interest. The space can fit about 12 of us if I set up the long tables and folding chairs, but if it’s just a few writers, there’s a comfy couch, a desk, and a few comfy chairs.

c) also starting tomorrow, I’m hoping to start a book club. Mostly SF/F-focused, probably some progressive politics mixed in — I’d initially thought I’d just pick the first book for tomorrow, but I didn’t really publicize it enough, so tomorrow will just be a meet-and-greet, and we’ll decide on a first book for March. Every fourth Sunday of the month, 5-7 p.m. I imagine once the group gets going, people will bring snacks (and/or wine?) and again, I have lots of tea options.

Any questions, please let me know! I hope to see some of you tomorrow! I’m planning to be at the store 12-4 as well, if that’s a better time to stop by and show me your books, talk about book club, etc. Getting ready for the Grand Opening next weekend!
