I feel like I’m cursed. I woke up at 6 a.m. to find I’d thrown out my back — I can barely move today. I really didn’t want to cancel classes right now, and thankfully, we’re allowed a very limited amount of pivoting to Zoom, so I messaged the students on Slack to let them know we’d be doing that today.
But I also wanted to send them a back-up message on Blackboard (not that they ever check their e-mail, but I always send anything important there too, just in case), and found that I was locked out of my university e-mail. I tried doing a password reset, and that looked like it went fine, but then it still refused to let me in.
So I’ve now set up a help ticket with the IT people, and they’re working on it, and it’s probably fine for class regardless, as Slack actually sends notifications to the students when I message the main channel, but I’d planned to spend most of the day when I’m not teaching reviewing some time-sensitive files in Box, which I also can’t access right now. I need to review them before tomorrow @ 3, so I really really hope they get me into the system again by the time I’m done with teaching.
So that’s my morning, full of frustration. This was supposed to be an all-UIC, all-day kind of day, and tomorrow too, but now I’m just on hold with all that. Gah. Oh, and my wrist is better than yesterday, but still spiking pain when I try to do much with it. And I was coughing most of the night and my throat is sore.
The universe hates me.

I did review my students’ journal entries (on Slack), and then did two resin pours this morning, and set store hours for the spring, so that’s something.

Next, take more Advil, hobble into shower, dress as best I can, and then spend half an hour recording journal and passage presentation grades before teaching. Maybe all the IT stuff will be sorted out by the end of teaching @ 2. Crossing fingers and toes.
The snowdrops are blooming. Thank all the little gods.
