Just two more days!

Just two more days until our ICIRR-benefit holiday party — we’ve raised over $640 in ticket sales so far, but we’re hoping to squeeze a few more people in!

We have tickets available for both tango dancers and non-dancers, and we’re also happy to take donations at the link if you can’t make it, but want to help support immigrant and refugee rights.

ICIRR has done tremendous work over the past few months in Chicago, and even though ICE seems to have paused the worst of its onslaught here, there are still many families at risk who desperately need the resources ICIRR provides.

If it helps tempt y’all, here’s a sneak peek at some of the menu for the shindig — I’ve been cooking! (With a little help from Trader Joe’s.)

Appetizers: Sri Lankan short eats (beef rolls, chicken patties (similar to empanadas!), vegetarian ribbon sandwiches. Caramelized onion and goat cheese tarts, mushroom tarts, squash tarts. (Yes, we like tarts here.) Mini samosas (vegetarian).

Sweets: Petits fours (dark chocolate, coffee, and vanilla), vanilla meringues, dark chocolate-orange sticks, peppermint marshmallows and peppermint bark, Sri Lankan milk toffee, dragonfruit-citrus chocolates.

Beverages: Festive cocktails, wine, and an array of non-alcoholic holiday delights.

We’ll have live music from Three To Tango Chicago, a free tango lesson from Sway Dance Chicago, and as you can see, plenty of nibbles.

So bring a friend, bring a date, come on your own — all are welcome. The house is all decked out in holiday style, so slip on something festive and come on over! Dancing shoes optional. 🙂
