Okay, so crowd-sourcing knowledge here. My father has decided to retire, so will be selling his office building, an old three-story Victorian in the heart of New Britain, CT. We have at least one interested buyer already, but need to know the fair market value of the house.
It’s at 327 W Main St, New Britain, CT 06052.
Can I just use the city’s online property record system for official assessments (looks like it was last done Oct 1, 2022)? Is there an advantage to scheduling an appraiser?
I did a quick google, and it looks like an outside appraisal is typically $500 – $1200? Does that seem right? And does anyone I know happen to know someone who does this kind of work near New Britain? Happy to send the business to a friend of a friend.
Ideally, if we’re doing one, I’d love to schedule the appraisal for next week Tuesday or Wednesday (12/9 – 12/10), when I’ll be out there, but if that doesn’t work, we can arrange for someone else to meet them there.
Thanks for any advice!
EDIT: Looks like the advice is to get a few experienced local real estate agents to do an appraisal, so if you happen to know any in New Britain, CT, let me know!
