Just taught Edith Wharton’s short story, “The Fulness of Life,” and per usual, ended up arguing with my students about romantic ideals vs. the kind of love you might find in a long marriage (despite evident sexist issues).
It’s kind of funny — it’s probably the only time when I feel like I’m arguing the anti-feminist position in class. 🙂
I really wish I’d read the story in my 20s for the first time, because I’m so curious as to whether my views would have been different back then.
