Move-in day. Eep eep eep.
Yesterday was long — I broke my Target boycott (grumbling, but it was really the best option by far for a lot of the items) and ended up at two different stores to get the things she needed.
It helped to shop online and purchase in the morning (shopping snuggled in bed with Kavi was very pleasant), but my dreams of just swinging by and picking up the orders were foiled by Kavi and Kevin wanting to walk through the stores and consider ottomans and mattress protectors in person. (We bought neither, sigh.)
We did go to campus, had tea with a professor friend, walked Kavi’s course schedule, stopped by the bookstore, got lab coat and goggles — no books, as apparently she was supposed to do that online and then just go there to pick up the box.
Then back to Jed’s to collapse for a bit — I’d slept badly after picking up Kevin at SFO at midnight the night before, and I was pretty wiped all day as a result. I need my eight hours or my life starts falling apart. But managed to rally long enough to meet Kevin’s sister and her family for dinner and transfer of some items that Kavi had bought while visiting them this summer. Susan even kindly washed the sheets and towels for Kavi, so they’re all ready to put them on the bed today.
Now, will the sheets be washed every two weeks going forward? Ha ha. Well, we’ll see. Maybe Kavi will decide she can live with crunchy sheets. Although there’s apparently a laundry room on every floor, so she doesn’t have that much excuse…
We still haven’t bought her bathroom cleaning supplies. We still haven’t taught her how to clean a bathroom. Maybe that will be a nice activity for tomorrow. 🙂 Fun times with Mommy!

Our move-in slot is 11:30 — we’re not sure if we’re going to do anything beforehand on campus, which is likely to be a zoo (so probably not). If I get restless, I may go buy cleaning supplies. Moving through the checklist…
