First day of teaching went pretty well

First day of teaching went pretty well; the one glitch was that I have a class that’s mostly freshmen for the first time in many years, and there was a moment when I could see they were starting to glaze over — too much content too fast. I’ll need to recalibrate for that class, I think!

Otherwise good. As always, my students are so lovely, and make me feel better about the world.

Today’s discussion is on “Sultana’s Dream” — a Bengali feminist science fiction short story published in 1905. They seemed to like it, based on their journal entries! If you have a few minutes, recommended!
