Save the date, local SF/F writers (and aspiring writers) — I have to work out the details and finalize everything, but tentatively, I’m planning to host something like this on Friday, August 15th.
A Day of Science Fiction & Fantasy @ The Berwyn Shops
Sponsored by the Speculative Literature Foundation (www.speclit.org)
11:30 – 12:15 — How to Create a Fantastic Character: Mary Anne Mohanraj, author of The Stars Change and co-writer on George R.R. Martin’s Wild Cards series, leads a free workshop, helping you create your own fantasy or science fiction character. (Ages 10 and up.)
12:30 – 1:15 — How to Create a Magical or Science Fictional World: Mary Anne Mohanraj leads a free worldbuilding workshop, helping you create a world for your stories. (Ages 10 and up.)
1:30 – 2:30 — lunch break / writing games & board games @ The Shops / visit The Pile Bookstore (just down the street!)
2:30 – 3:15 — How to Write a Comic Book (all ages): Meet Yorli Huff, creator of Superhero Huff, and learn about how she created her character, wrote her story, and turned it into a comic book (plus a lot of cool superhero clothing!)
3:30 – 6:30: Writer Meet & Greet @ Kinslahger (you can bring your own food to Kinslahger) / writing games & board games @ The Shops / visit The Pile Bookstore (just down the street!) — featuring SF author and biographer Alec Nevala-Lee
6:30 – 7:30: Deep Dish Reading Series at The Shops, hosted by fantasy novelist Angeli Primlani
7:30 – 9:00: Open Mic at The Shops! (sign up!)
How does that look? Anything unclear? Any questions? (I have to put in all the address info, of course.)
