Resin table question — I’ve been researching for the dining table commission, and it looks like that there are some durability issues with building a resin table on a wood base, because over time, the resin and the wood can react differently to temperature changes, and may pull apart / warp.
I’m wondering if it’d be better to use a thin sheet of metal as a base instead. Would love to hear from anyone with experience combining resin with metal over the long term, or links to resources.
My client would prefer no wood anyway (the room the table will be sitting in is paneled in wood, so it’s already very woody). I’m tentatively planning to pack the flowers in closely enough that you won’t really be able to see through from the top — I’m not going for the kind of resin table look which has a lot of open clear space, more of a rich exuberance of flowers.
But anything I use on the base will be visible from the sides, of course. So if metal, then I think ideally a fairly thin sheet.
(Some of my previous more full tables below, to give a sense.)
