Close-up video of dahlia table. Very happy with how it came out — I think it looks like an old painting. If I knew more about art, I’d be able to tell you what style it’s in. Dutch Masters? I did it coffee table height (about 20 inches completed), which I hope will be more flexible for people than the console height ones I’ve done previously. Though I do still like console height for the round tables; they work well for plant stands as well as end tables.
People have asked about whether I ship my tables, and I have, but shipping is honestly a lot of extra work, the shipping fees tend to cost at least half of what the table itself costs (and it’s exorbitant when shipping out of the country), and I don’t have much time right now before Christmas. So apologies to those who aren’t in town — I don’t think I can manage to ship any of these for the rest of this year.
I won’t be able to make another dahlia table until next autumn, so this is it. 🙂 For the next few months, I think I might do a few tables from grocery store flowers — hydrangeas and roses are pretty reliably available. Maybe some with branches and autumn leaves too. And then starting in March, I can harvest from the garden again — hellebores! Realistically, it seems like I have time to do about 1-2 tables / month, so if you’re wanting one, factor that in too.
I’m hesitant to do completely custom orders for these, particularly in case I don’t have enough flowers to redo them if they don’t come out well. But I’m okay with keeping a running list of people who are interested in particular tables, first-come, first-serve.
And if you want a table made from wedding bouquet flowers, that might be possible — I’d be more comfortable doing a smaller round table in that case, so that if the first attempt didn’t come out to my satisfaction, I’d have enough flowers to make a second attempt. I’d need you to either dry the flowers yourself or get them to me within a day of the wedding, to make sure they’re in good enough shape for preservation.
Lots of brides marry in May / June / July, and I’ve already started getting inquiries about wedding bouquet preservation, which I’m mostly going to direct locally to Ana Constantinescu, who does that far more than I do. But I’m happy to have a conversation, especially if you’re interested in a smaller piece, like a tray or a set of bookends or a little house or an arch.
