So, I have an electrical question? Sort of? I’ve made a lamp shade out of resin, that looks something like the picture below. The pictured one is made of concrete, and I wanted to try doing it in resin — the mold worked fine, but the BURNING question I have is whether this is actually safe to use as a lamp.
LED lights are embedded in resin all the time, so that’s safe, but those are the tiny little lights that don’t get hot at all. I was originally thinking that I could use a normal light kit, with an LED bulb, but I don’t know if the larger LED bulbs are also completely cold?
The bulb itself won’t be in direct contact with the resin (I THINK), but if it’s putting off heat, it could conceivably melt the resin?
I do not want to burn down my house or anyone else’s house, but I’m not sure where I’d go for expert advice on this topic. I figured I’d start here!
