I ran away from the workshop to do one more restaurant meal in Racine — Thai food this time, at Sticky Rice. I got the pad prik khing, which was pretty good.
But it was funny because I asked them to make it spicier, and the white 20-something behind the counter looked at me and asked how much spicier, and she recommended a quarter-star.
I said I thought a star would be fine, but she looked dubious and said she really recommended a quarter-star. So I said fine, and she placed my order, and it was good…but Dear Reader, I could have done a full star.
(Side note — their mango sticky rice came topped with custard, which is new for me. I think the restaurant is actually more Laotian than Thai, so maybe that’s a Laotian thing? It was tasty, but I didn’t actually need the custard. Mango with sticky rice is perfect in itself….)
