Happy with this piece. I think it works in this space? The colors are good, it’s maybe a little bit small in proportion to the furniture. On the other hand, maybe the furniture is big in proportion to it. 🙂 Well, I’ll live with it for a while, see what I think — since the coffee table had started falling apart, I suspect the couch and chair aren’t far behind, and will need replacing at some point.
My favorite part about this piece is how the different layers make it look like the pansies are floating — that, combined with the color scheme, gives it a little bit of a watery effect, which is lovely and cooling on a summer porch. The ferns are like swimming fish.
I could’ve used silver leaf as the bottom layer (I wanted something to hide the braces on the table legs), which would have allowed me to keep the edges transparent, which would also have looked good, I think. But I didn’t want anything as shiny as silver leaf on this porch; the muted silver mica powder gives the effect I wanted.
Now I just need to find a coordinating fabric and resew that seat cushion cover, which was an experiment anyway, and didn’t work. To the sewing room!
