Anyone know what this is?

Anyone know what this is? Spotted on my walk to downtown Los Gatos yesterday to do some final stocking shopping.

V. seasonal — I admit, now that i’m doing so much working with botanicals, I’m kind of wishing I had plant collecting supplies on hand so I could gather up bits like this. I didn’t even pack any print books that I could press in. Well, maybe I’ll improvise something.

I have various things on my general to-do list that I could be working on, but I don’t seem to want to work on any of them, so I think I’m going to keep re-reading the final book in Martha Wells’s _The Fall of Ile-Rien trilogy_ and honor my mind’s need to rest.

Also my body’s need to rest — I managed to trip while walking yesterday and took a bad fall. Nothing broken (not even my phone), but I have a nasty bruise on my knee and I wrenched various back muscles. Advil seems sufficient, so I’m guessing I’ll be fine in a day or two, but it’s incentive to take it very easy for a bit.

Plan for today: walk five minutes over to Ann’s home (Kevin’s mom) around 10 to do an hour or two of present-wrapping (we wrap stocking presents, which takes a while). Then mostly off for the afternoon — around 3, Kavi is going to go with her grandmother to the church to help with getting all the little kids ready for the Christmas pageant. In the evening, we’re cooking dinner for the family at Ann’s place.

I’m kind of hoping I can put together the charcuterie platter for appetizers and then leave Kevin and his sister to do the actual cooking while I hang out with Ann and the kids; we’ll see! 🙂
