-took Kavi to bio research club, came back and am making some shop decor over breakfast and tea. It’s going to take a little while since I don’t have a giant hole punch, and I need circles to fulfill my VISION. But that’s okay – Eliana Callan is coming to do a little work for me and the shop this morning, and she may get asked to be on circle-cutting duty for a little while.
Plan for the rest of the day:
8:45 – 11 or so, work with Eliana on shop stuff (I’ve shown her how to add earring backs, so she’s finishing some pieces for me now, in addition to photographing them and inventorying them), intercutting with bits of SLF computer work. Much easier to deal with tedious e-mail if I can craft in between. I’m so grateful my work is flexible enough that I can adapt tasks to my ADHD brain.
Interestingly, I also did just fine when I had a seriously hyper-focused task, like the couple of weeks when I did data entry of numbers. It’s sort of hard to imagine now, that somehow I would just turn into a finger-punching machine for eight hours / day…
11 – 12: make sure I’m finished with SLF stuff and prep for staff meeting; send out November story to Patreon subscribers (one day late – need to work on getting that done in time!), work on agent list and send out a few more queries. A friend at World Fantasy said she sent out ten queries / week until she had an agent. That sounds exhausting, but also manageable. I think I can do that.
12 – 1: SLF staff meeting on Zoom – updates on Portolan Project, Deep Dish reading in November, etc.
1-2: lunch break – I got a copy of Priya Sharma’s Hugo-winning novella, Pomegranates, so I’m planning to dive into that. I’m trying to be better about actually TAKING a lunch break. Reading should help, I think – if I watch TV, I tend to feel like my hands should be busy making something….
2 – 3: go down to Berwyn Sprout shop, take down Halloween (should’ve done yesterday, oh well – at least Anand and I got the tombstones and skeletons and spooky ladies out of the front yard…), put up autumn window display, pull acorn necklace for shipping to one of you
3 – 3:30: pick up some groceries next door at Tony’s (we need fruit, butter, what else? Hmm….)
3:30 – 6: probably have a cup of tea and a scone, start a nice beef curry going, prep for board meeting (review agenda and e-mails)
Should be a nice day. I mean, long, given the evening board meeting, but reasonably chill nonetheless.
