A Bit of a Treat

Our last workshop class, we had outside; for whatever reason, there was a classroom set up there, with ceiling fans and everything. The students were so excited to have class outside — they always are, I think it evokes a sense of freedom and getting away with something.

As a teacher, I’m careful these days — there are some access issues to consider before taking your class outside. It’s usually harder to hear, so you have to make sure that won’t be a challenge for any students. And if you’re expecting students to sit on the grass, you should make sure everyone can comfortably do that (and doesn’t mind getting grass stains on their clothes).

But assuming all access needs are met, I admit, it does feel like a bit of a treat.

They look so happy. 🙂
