Hectic Morning

Hectic morning as we try to get all the stuff done before the semester starts next week:

• I had a doctor’s appointment (annual physical, all fine though I really do need to schedule that colonoscopy, sigh, dreading the prep a bit — on the other hand, she seemed genuinely astonished that I’m 51 and said I do *not* look my age, which is nice to hear from your doctor — per usual, I attributed it to my life of sin 🙂 )

• periodontist appointment (second half of deep cleaning, definitely hurt quite a bit more, not sure why, wish I’d remembered to take ibuprofen and tylenol beforehand, that might have been the difference, but it’s mostly okay now, thankfully)

• phone interview with reporter from WTTW about Vegan Serendib (went well despite half my mouth being numb, should be up in a week or so)

• ordered takeout from Chicago’s Home of Chicken and Waffles which we normally don’t order from because the food is pretty rich, but I knew Kev and I would both want soft, non-spicy food for a day or two, and it was DELICIOUS — I can recommend their mac-and-cheese, cheese grits, grilled chicken thigh, fried chicken livers, yams, cornbread, cornbread stuffing, and sweet potato pie. Damn, that was tasty. I could only manage a bite or two of the grilled chicken and fried livers, but the rest was good for convalescent mouths, and we will definitely finish that all later.

I am feeling very exhausted now. Plan for the rest of the day is mostly to rest — I need to swing by the drugstore for some meds at some point, and possibly will hit the post office to drop a few things off, and then at 7, people are coming over for porch knitting. But other than that, TV, reading, probably napping. Let the body recuperate.

Photos of last night’s cooking — peach ice cream with the last of the peaches from our tree. Which I can’t eat now, because my teeth are too sensitive to cold at the moment, but it was yummy last night, and will be yummy again in a few days…
