The Mud Place

Anand recently was fiddling with my sewing station caddy, and dropped the top and broke it. He was contrite, and I was only briefly frustrated and managed to not actually snap at him, for which I felt I deserved a reward.

I went online to see if I could find a replacement, because I like this item a lot; it’s both lovely and super-functional — it holds pins and a scissors in the top, and there’s storage inside, which I use for measuring tape, thread snips, some extra bobbins, and the little screwdrivers I need to take apart my sewing machine when it needs fixing.

And wouldn’t you know it, I found the folks who make them on Etsy (Leslie Nieto and crew), and they also make some other lovely items. I have a real weakness for beautiful, functional tools, so I *may* have also purchased a yarn bowl and a set of watercolor painting tools.

I’ve already tried the yarn bowl for the Autopilot cowl I’m currently knitting in Malabrigo Rios (coming along nicely), and it works well for threading the yarn in a controlled manner (rather than having the ball fall off my lap and tumble across the floor per usual).

I recommend The Mud Place unto you if you’re looking for some beautiful crafting items — and you don’t even have to get everything in blue. They have other colors. 🙂 Nice gifts for the crafters in your life too!
