New design for Spoonflower’s wild grasses challenge — I tried to draw morningstar sedge. To be honest, I didn’t quite get the dimensionality I was hoping for; what’s so cool about morningstar sedge is the way its seed heads look like little morningstars, and I’m not quite skilled enough to be able to sketch that quickly. (I had about 45 minutes or so to work on this.)
But this is still pretty, and will make for nice summery tea towels, etc. at some point, maybe I’ll try again to draw a more dimensional version. Representing 3D in 2D = not easy. 
I do like how this design also kind of looks like shooting stars. Green shooting stars.
